Professor Pannone is great. He was so passionate about what he was teaching, even if the whole class frequently didn't show up for lecture. The content taught is perfect setup for the end of term paper, however sometimes its dull but necessary. He outlines everything you need to do and write to succeed. I will be using his outlines for future papers in grad school and the skills he taught for research.
This class was pretty easy and Prof Pannone is very nice. The class is broken down into three modules. The first module is basically just an overview of different research defintions; this is the module with the most amount of homework (which is not a lot!) that is just 5-8 questions based on the readings in the textbook or articles he provides. Module 2 everyone writes a research paper on the same topic and all of the research comes from one document which is nice. He walks you through how to do the needed calculations in SPSS and how to write each section of the paper. Module 3 you write your own research paper based on a topic of your choosing (there is a list of variables you choose from to form your topic). Overall, It was a pretty low time commitmient outside of class time and there were no exams which was really nice. #tCFfall2021
This was such a great class. Pannone is a great professor and is very understanding of outside circumstances. He also tries his best to engage the class despite the topic being not the most interesting. The assignments are fairly easy, most of them require reading at most 15 pages and answering 1-5 questions about them on Collab. The other assignments are rough drafts of research papers and their finalized forms, but he gives you more than enough resources to succeed in writing the paper. This class is great because it teaches you how to write academic research papers as well as use SPSS, which is applicable to the public health field. I would recommend this class! #tCFSpring2021
Enjoyed this required GPH course. Very easy and Professor Pannone is super easy going. Many classes spent chatting in our groups or workshopping research papers, so if you're productive on those days there is only very limited homework outside of class. But, I wish Professor Pannone answered his email - he didn't respond to one of the five or so emails I sent him over the semester about problems I had with SPSS or questions about assignments. Seems like if you want to get in touch with him, you'll need to track him down in person at office hours.
