I love professor Lyons. He is great, and very kind. He doesn't get upset when some people clearly didn't do the reading, he is fair and tries to create a good atmosphere for discussion. Not to mention, it was the least reading I've ever done for a french literature course!

This was my least favorite class after 4 years at UVA. The professor feigns kindness, and while he is extremely knowledgeable, the discussions he lead go nowhere. He specifically will call on you and put you on the spot if he believes you do not know an answer. You are rewarded for not coming to class because a major portion of your grade is dependent on the reading quizzes you take in class (if you are absent, they do not count against you). I would not recommend this class to my worst enemy.
