Quite a boring class with many long readings in topics of poetry, theater, film, and short stories. You write a 2-3 paper on each of these topics then you expand on one of them for your final. You also have a group project of performing a scene from the theater story - very easy to do well on. Papers are hard to get a good grade on, do well on first one or u will be stuck at that grade for all the rest of ur papers, she never really will give u a better grade on any of the papers you write after that which sucks and I dont get. Only reason it was a 3 for difficulty for me was because I was so uninterested about the assignments with the topics. McGrady is a good teacher and is pretty lenient if you just somewhat try. I think french dept. at UVa in general just needs to get better and care a little more #tCF2020
Prof McGrady is really passionate about French, which makes her a great professor. There's a lot of reading and a few literary analysis papers, as well as one group project, but overall this class isn't a lot of work. McGrady is helpful and flexible, especially with students who may be taking this as their first French class at UVA. She's also a fair grader. I would definitely recommend her class if you want to improve your French writing skills.
