I love Madame Hapgood. She is so funny. She is flexible with making sure there is not too much of a workload. She is from France and will correct your pronunciation. She grades fairly. She lets you speak in English if you need to clarify something. She gives everyone a chance to improve. #tCFfall2021
First time writing on tCF. Avoid Prof. Hapgood. She is passive-aggressive, always use all-caps when communicating with you and the class in her email and instruction materials. She gives very low score and makes you feel worthless. Average test scores are consistently in the 70s and the class has absolutely no curve (at least according to Prof. Hapgood). She intimated to give us F for the oral exam if we read from a script. For the final cultural project presentation, she would interrupt students constantly to catch mistakes and readily say a big fat "no" to any non-stellar explanations that students give. I can comfortably take 4000-level natural science classes while I'm always sweating about this 2000-level French class. It really speaks something about the instructor and the atmosphere that Prof. Hapgood creates.
Worst french professor I've ever had. This was my 3rd course in French and the first two were so good that I wanted to continue with French as a minor. Hapgood made me hate the subject so much throughout the semester that I'm never taking another course in French ever again, at least not at UVa. She is absolutely useless, boring and cannot speak the language herself. Extremely unorganized, no communication, no clarity. It was all so vague and the professor skipped class more often than I did. AVOID PASCALE HAPGOOD AT ALL COSTS. She will bring down your ePortfolio grade just because she herself is not capable of using the technology for this class (Wordpress etc.) and could not find any work on the Collab site.
