FREN 1050

I came into college with 3 years experience of high school French, but didn't take this course until my 3rd Year here. Needless to say, I was pretty scared because I was certain I forgot basically everything. Much to my delight, Madame Brisson was PHENOMENAL. The structure of the course is definitely speedier than 1010/ 1020 on their own because we go through the entire textbook in the one semester (as opposed to half). However, Mme Brisson does a wonderful job of pacing the information and structuring both in-class and out-of-class activities to ensure we are receiving enough practice. Quizzes and exams are very very fair. In addition, Mme Brisson absolutely loves France and loves her students.. so she will always find ways to support you in both learning the French language & culture, but also support you just as a human being. I had an incredibly rough semester that year, but she honestly was so encouraging ... the fact that I had this class every single day didn't even bother me. :)
