BIOL 4770

If you are part of UVA's iGEM team, this class is required. If you are just looking to understand more about synthetic biology, this class will be suitable for you. It's a fairly straightforward class with weekly readings on scientific papers and grades are given based on in-class discussion/participation, mini-assignments and quizzes, and a large paper. Synthetic biology is very interesting field and I found a majority of the readings to be fairly enjoyable to read. Participate in class discussions!- Kozminski notices and does give better grades to those who do. Also, I'd advise you start early on the final paper- it's around 30-40 pages long and if you start sooner and at least start outlining the sections like the example papers provided on collab three weeks before it's due, you won't feel the pressure of having to pull off consecutive all-nighters to finish it which I did...

I loved this course. There is a lot to be learned about synthetic biology and this course is a great introduction to the subject.
