This class is not easy. Since class is every day you will have over an hour of homework per night. Memorizing vocab is also a huge commitment. My advice would be to make Quizlets and study some every day. The e-portfolio, which is worth 25% of your grade, also takes many hours to perfect. However, if you take this class you will learn a lot of French. Mme Groff speaks in French for most of class from the start. This can be overwhelming at first but is actually very helpful. She is very kind and patient and really helps the learning process. As long as you consistently study vocab and work hard in this class you will do well, and maybe even enjoy some of the fun writing assignments and group projects. Overall, a very difficult but also a very fun and rewarding class.
I have to admit that the workload of this class is overwhelming, because we have homework almost every night. However, Madame Groff is very kind to her students. and she tried her best to make this class as fun as possible. I learned a lot this semester and made some really good friends in this class, so I think it's worth it.
Although Madame Groff is very approachable outside of class, in class is hard to get through because of how immersive the course is. Very little English is spoken even just two weeks into an elementary language course, which is difficult. There is also a lot of homework, I spend more hours per week on French than all of my other classes combined. That being said, I have been told by friends who speak French that I am way ahead of where they were after their French 1 course, so I guess it does work.
