You can tell that Professor Colvin is very intelligent and passionate about his work in public health. He mentions his work in South Africa frequently and incorporates it into lectures. I know that many of us are more interested in domestic health policy so the fact that the class was focused largely on global health policy was a little disappointing. Attendance and participation make up ~30% of your grade, so attending lectures is mandatory if you want a good grade. In all honesty, lectures are pretty boring as we just review what we read about in the textbook that week. Overall, this class was not too difficult and didn’t require much outside work until we got to the end of the semester. Before coronavirus, we were supposed to do a group project that culminated in a 45 minute presentation. This was switched to a 10-15 page paper which required a lot more time and work than previous assignments in the class.
