As a first-year engineering student I had reservations about taking this class but it proved to be very interesting and well worth it. It was a little math heavy but we were given a formula sheet and excess time on the tests that made it not bad. I learned a lot of interesting and relevant topics about water flow, management, dams, etc.. I would definitely recommend the textbook to supplement the lectures. #tCFF23
This course accomplished everything it needed to, but was perhaps a little underwhelming. Content often felt a bit like a surface skim and the pace at which we moved could be a little slow. Professor Wiberg is enthusiastic but is not the most engaging lecturer. More lecture time than necessary was often devoted to mathematical derivations. I wish the course would have explored water scarcity and climate change more, but as the title suggests, you're signing up to study the physical properties of water. The lab for the class had its fair share of interesting assignments and is pretty standard as far as workload goes. It's a lot of Excel but nothing difficult. You can expect to usually get out in 2-3 hours and have a few discussion questions left to answer. Plus there's three mini lab reports throughout the semester and a final, full-length lab report at the end.
