After going to every single class and then record and transcribing lectures for each exam, I would always still come out with just over a B. I understood the material very well and still do, but because there are no other components to buffer out exam grades, you won't get anything better than a B or a B+ with maximal effort. Averages for tests were around 75 so the class average overall is a C+. There are a few people (about 10 out of the 200) who did well (above a 90) on the first exam, but not many did well on the second or third.
The class is interesting but if you want your effort to be reflected in your GPA, do not take this class. He is not the best professor and is extremely boring.
A very intelligent professor and a worthwhile class. However, you're expected to study the slides and regurgitate the material from them on the exams. The material is pretty straightforward and this should not be a difficult course....and it won't be difficult if you are a speedy test taker. Each exam is a race to see if you can answer his questions as fast as you can before running out of time. I know that this cannot be said for all students, but if you usually take the full amount of time on your exams in general, this professor is not for you. The third exam was much shorter though.
This course is graded for by 3 exams a semester and that's it. There's no homework, no participation, just the exams. If you miss a lecture, good luck passing. The textbook is mostly unnecessary, and many of the exam questions are related to things that were learned in class. He also spends a lot of time going over very easy topics, and spends 5 minutes on topics that are hard. He does not budge on adding extra homework or exam corrections. I don't recommend him for this class
