I took this course as a STEM major within the college in order to fulfill one of my humanities requirements and was fairly satisfied with my experience. Overall, your entire grade is composed of various essays you have to write (both midterm and final were 3 essay questions, you have some visual/ formal analysis essays to turn in, and also a reflective essay on art you experience in the real world). However, all of your essays are graded fairly easily and you definitely don't need any art or art history experience prior to taking this course to do well. There is a discussion portion of this course with ends up being 20% of your grade, and my TA Jennifer Marine was extremely nice, so if she's available I would take it with her (though I heard the other TA was good as well). I really enjoyed the content of this course as well which is always a plus with courses taken outside your major (concepts focus on the intersection of art and technology and you get a pretty good overview of various 19th and 20th century art movements). Professor Robbins was clearly passionate and knowledgable on the subject, but I found her to be quite rude in all honesty. This didn't really affect my experience in the course, but she would just get really mad around due dates when many students haven't turned in essays and was sort of passive over email if you couldn't attend lecture or had any questions about the course. However, this class is very easy to do well in (I got an A without much effort) so if you are looking to fulfill a humanities requirement I would certainly choose this course if possible.
