ANTH 2625

I really enjoyed this class and it made me want to minor in Anthropology. Professor Igoe is so passionate about the course material and brings in different forms of teaching (lecture, movie, music) to engage his students. There are only 3 short writing reflections, a take-home midterm, and a take-home final. If you do most of the readings and take good notes in class, you will do well. Overall, it was one of my favorite classes that I;ve ever taken at UVA!

If you can get this class, definitely take it. It counts for history and non-western. You can skim the readings and learn some really interesting stuff about Africa. There are no exams at all, only 5 small quizzes of 3 questions each. Igoe will send out an email before the quiz saying what will be on it, and the answers come directly from the readings. The only other assignment is a super short "journal", where you write no more than a page reflecting on the weeks topic. Overall, this class was pretty interesting and extremely easy. So worth taking.

This class was super easy. Not difficult to sit through. He did have quiz on the readings that he usually went over on Tuesdays or told you in advance. There are a few writing assignments only one page tho.
