Geology is a good class if you're interested in that kind of thing but not so great to just fulfill science requirements. His lectures can be a little hard to follow and unclear, but he's very approachable and it's easy to get questions answered. I'd recommend taking the lab also because it gives hands-on experience to concepts in class and also reinforces what's covered in lecture. Midterms are tricky and long, but there's no cumulative final which is a plus. All in all, Professor Biggs is a funny guy and tries to make lectures about rocks a little easier to bear.
Fun class, enthusiastic professor. Lectures hit important concepts and provide an outline, but tests and quizes cover material in the book, don't skip readings. The lab really helps comprehension, and is also a lot of fun. The material includes new terminology and spatial concepts. Mr. Biggs is very approachable and can break down the concepts and recognizes areas that are difficult. Great class!
This is a very interesting class and the readings can be long but they are somewhat interesting. Biggs finds joy in making the tests pretty hard. They are the longest, most intense 50min test I have ever taken at this University. It is really important to attend the lectures because he gives random pop quizes that aren't too easy. He also does not post the lecture slides online. Even if you read all the material, take good notes, and study hard the tests will have something you won't know on them. Like I said he finds joy in making them difficult.
