Do not take this class. This woman needs to be stopped. She can't teach, and yet she blames the students when they don't do well. There will always be people who get it, but it's not because she's great at teaching. She makes you feel like you're in good shape for her class, but that's only because she is really arbitrary about her standards. The class is really easy until the day after the drop deadline. So, you think you're fine, but you're really in for a not-treat. You have to read between the lines with her and not take her at face value. For example, she said there will be two proofs on the final, and there were four. Later, she said two of them weren't *really* proofs we were rearranging equations. Well... that sure sounds like a proof to me especially if it takes 2 pages of writing to solve!! Also, they were longer than we've ever done in class or for any homework assignments. However, my biggest complaint about this class is that I don't feel like I've learned anything about sample surveys. What's the point of taking a class and working really hard for it if you get nothing from any of your efforts?
You have been warned.
DO NOT TAKE THE COURSE!!! You will totally regret it. One of my friend withdrew from the class and I should have withdrawn with her at that time. Textbook is OK - in fact that's almost my only way of learning the course. The teaching is just boring and dry and after a while people show up just for the sign up sheet and most of them fall asleep during class. You can't learn much during class so you have to catch up on your own. Not to mention that the tests were hard and long and the TA's so picky about everything in the homework.
