PLAN 3860

Don't have to do the readings for this class although you have to know all the terms for the tests. The topics are interesting but Beatley is a bit of a boring lecturer. He is really passionate about the topic though and an awesome guy. Tests focus on the terms and there is one paper at the end of the term that isn't bad either.

You don't need to do the readings, but it is difficult to get an A on the exams. The subject is interesting and Beatley is passionate about it but can be boring sometimes.

Honestly, I took this class as someone in the College and I do not recommend this unless you're someone who is very interested in the topic. It's not really an easy A as I felt that they weren't that lenient on the exams which is basically writing 4-5 short essays comparing different terms we learned in class. Also, Beatley really just lectures straight for 75 minutes which can be tiring.

Super easy and interesting class. Beatley can be dull though, be prepared to doze off a few times during the semester. You don't have to do the readings, just study the night before the midterm and final and you'll be fine. And try your best to not leave your nature journal for finals week, it was just a pain in the butt trying to get it done while worrying about other finals

Overall grade consists of a midterm, a final paper, a final exam, and 10 journal entries. The subject matter isn't hard and you don't have to attend to do well, however the final paper is time consuming. It's not as easy as PLAN 1010, but Beatley is great and I highly recommend.

A midterm, a final exam and a final 10-page paper. Paper's topic is to analyse the biophilic features of your neighborhood. Really interesting class overall, with occasional guest speakers. Broadened my perspective about urban planning quite a bit.
