MATH 3350

I would recommend taking this class with literally any other professor other than Professor Irina Timchenko. The class was taught poorly, the homeworks took way too long, and the exams were never as she said they would be. Homeworks took hours on end to only be worth 7% of my grade but also if i happen to skip over one problem out of the 37 billion problems she assigns i immediately get a 50% which does impact your grade drastically. I went to her OH and she would always contradict herself and never explain much well. I ended up reading the text book and watching khan academy to help me a lot. overall i suggest you take it with holt he is a way better professor and is also not condescending and rude to students.

I took this class with Timchenko, and it was just a mess from the start. Concepts can be really hard to grasp, and its just really tough to visualize. There is also a ton of material - while tests aren't particularly hard for any one concept, she makes her tests cover 30 different concepts that could possibly be tested, and the format of the tests (lots of questions) make it difficult if you can't wrap your head around a question immediately. She means well and is helpful in OH, but I think she expected too much out of her students. I would have liked to see the material, especially tests, broken up more so that any one test didn't cover a boatload of information.
