I don't think they offer this course right now (2017), but this class was primarily geared toward Korean heritage students (i.e. Koreans who spoke Korean at home / have some background in the language but may not have a solid foundation in the alphabet or in grammar). It actually satisfies the Humanities > Literature category for CLAS area requirements. This class was actually a lot of work because you're cramming KOR 1010 and KOR 1020 (1 years worth of Korean) in a semester, in addition to having pretty heavy essay requirements. Maybe it was because I don't speak Korean at home and I just knew the alphabet and very basic vocab (like legit only food and "did you do your homework"), I mad struggled, but if you regularly speak Korean and get placed into this class, you'll probs do fine. You definitely learn a lot and the class is worth while. Junghee tends to be on the tougher side on grading than Yoonhwa but honestly not by much and she's definitely softened up, which is nice.
