Interesting class. This is a good course to take if you want to improve your conversational abilities in Spanish. I have found that not enough courses in this department emphasize vocabulary, which is very problematic for many Spanish students. This course will help you expand your vocabulary. However, this course is also extremely demanding. There are a ton of pop quizzes, each student must watch two movies per week, and you are expected to participate more than once per class. Professor Gies is at times a bit full of it, but he is a very sweet man who invites the whole class to his home for dinner.
