This class is required for nursing majors and is divided under two teachers, among them is Dr. Campbell, a knowledgeable professor who mainly works with the DNP students. I wanted to love this class. I really did. It was mostly a class where students would lead seminars and their classmates would participate in (the topics of which would include: continuum of care, health literacy, etc.). Each group presenting that week would assign a homework due by the day of the seminar, so, even though they had a deadline to submit the homework to the professor, the professor never really kept posting the homework consistent, so you never knew when the homework would appear.
Now, for the professor. Dr. Campbell preaches about being "coachable." To her, to be "coachable" is to be open-minded to learning, and that is a great mindset. However, she herself is not always "coachable." For example, for our second reflective essay, we had to reflect on a lecture from a guest speaker. However, the essay was due BEFORE the guest speaker would be speaking. So how can we reflect on a speech when we haven't even heard it? So one of our classmates brought this up to Dr. Campbell in class, and she made it seem like she was doing us a favor by pushing back the deadline. I don't think she understood why we were asking for an extension for it, so after twenty minutes of explaining to her why the deadline had to be pushed, she finally understood and STILL made it seem like she was doing us a favor. Her tone especially amplified her actions, and she still made it seem like it was our fault for asking for an extension, when in fact, it was she who misunderstood us. She is a great person and knows a lot about her subject, but for someone preaching about being "coachable," she herself isn't openminded, and my respect for her has since decreased. There are more instances, but they're too identifying as to which student she affected.
Again, she's a very knowledgeable professor, and you're pretty much guaranteed an A, but she definitely has her favorites, and she's not always practicing what she teaches-- coachability.
