Professor Morimoto is great! She is encouraging, understanding, passionate, and very lenient with deadlines. Even though this course focused on East Asian Transnational Media, she allows students to pick any example of transnational media to use for their four-part project, spanned out over the semester. If you pick something you're passionate about to research, it's easy work. Class mostly consists of lecture and discussion about the slides Morimoto creates. It's lax and not stressful. There is a participation grade, but speaking a few times every couple classes will get you a good grade. Most of the time, my verbal contributions were just my own opinions about the films/media we would watch for homework. There are 5 reading responses students are required to complete on any five of the readings over the semester; my suggestion is to get these done early, and then the reading isn't something you have to worry about (It's not really discussed in class, and you're not assessed on it apart from the responses). This was a great class to take for the global media requirement. I had no prior knowledge about the subject and ended with an A. #tCFF23
