He was not responsive to emails, awful at returning graded papers, and many times showed up to office hours late - only to talk to you for 5 minutes. He graded way too harshly for an ENWR first writing requirement class compared to all other teachers, missed class a bunch of times and was extremely disorganized….take this class with another teacher!!!
While I enjoyed watching movies every class I did not learn anything about how to write well. This is an easy enwr in terms of homework, but he grades very harshly. Also he never shows up to class, and never shows up to office hours. Really not a fan of him. at all. getting annoyed just writing about him.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The topics of the class (the films of Spike Lee and race relations) are actually very interesting, but Jason's cancels these out. He was consistently late / did not show up to class and office hours, and was not helpful in his comments on papers. Although there is barely any writing involved in this "writing" class (all we did was watch movies) if you take it do not expect to get anything above a B.
Don't take this class if you want a good grade. While there's minimal work (we just watched movies and wrote 3 papers over the semester), Saunders grades very harshly, and he expects way too much for an introductory English class. I always felt like everyone's papers boiled down to the same thing, because everyone felt so pressed to write exactly what he wanted to hear. On the other hand, if you want a class with very little work (he cancelled/ didn't show up to class a couple times) and you are okay accepting a B/B- as your grade, this is a good one for you.
