I loved this class! I was originally placed in Indu Ohri's class (not my choice), but after seeing her reviews, I switched into Sarah's class after looking at her reviews. I am so glad I did that. At the beginning, I was hesitant about the writing topic and about Sarah, but that quickly changed. She is an incredibly fair grader, very personable and a super fun person to talk to. I enjoyed the close-knit feeling of this class (we had 11 people). I would highly recommend taking a class with her, but unfortunately she is moving this summer :(

This was Sarah's last semester at UVA. And she made it a great time for me. I didn't expect much coming into this class because of the mixed reviews. This class turned out to be a film studies class with a lot of analytical reading and an emphasis on racial issues. It wasn't so focused on the specific nitty-gritty details of cinematography, just the more general aspects. We watched the first season of "Atlanta", a documentary called "Welcome to Pine Lake", and the first season of "Lovecraft Country". There was a project on each of these, two essays (one each for the first two) and a podcast for the last. There were groups that we were assigned to from the beginning to peer edit the papers and co-create the podcast. My group really improved my experience since we bonded.
Sarah really cared about us improving our writing and about our lives if you talked to her. She gave it her all to connect with us online.
