Stephen's focus is book to film adaptations. Unfortunately though, you cover mainly boring stories except for Hidden Figures. He's a pretty tough grader, and you will have to revise your essays just like with all ENWR's. That being said, it is definitely possible to come out with an A. He's a pretty understanding guy, and the papers are not too long (3 papers with 1400 words each). Put in energy in the course, and he'll notice and it will be worth it.
The books aren't the most interesting but the class is pretty straightforward. Hager is a good teacher and not overtly difficult, and we focus on a subject which is a bit of a niche in comparison to what other classes cover. There are three papers which were graded pretty fairly, and the first two are returned and can be edited and resubmitted. The readings were really manageable, and there were usually weekly prompts we had to reply to. Hager also occasionally let us out early when it was clear that we covered the subject matter which was really nice of him. Overall it was a pretty good experience and I recommend this teacher to anyone looking for a good ENWR to enroll in.
