Professor Ceraso is a great teacher to have for ENWR. She understands we have a lot of reading for other classes so she doesn't assign us unnecessary reading. Most of our (out of class) writing work comes from weekly 200 word Collab posts, which are easy to finish but also helpful when we discuss what we wrote in class. This ENWR was about Music and Identity (And I love hip hop a lot) so it was pretty easy to just write about something you really do enjoy, instead of research papers. Highly recommend Professor Ceraso if you're going to take an ENWR (which you have to take anyways lol).
I loved taking my first year writing requirement with Professor Ceraso. The class was called Digital Humans so the topic was relevant and interesting. The class wasn't difficult and we were given extra credit opportunities. Amount of reading given is very reasonable- included articles, podcasts, videos and a variety of topics which was great. Prof Ceraso just wants her students to do well in the class while improving their writing. I truly feel like my writing improved. She encouraged us to take on more of a critical inquiry rather than the structured type of writing we have learned in high school.
Professor Ceraso is probably one of my better professors from 1st year, and I am majoring in mathematics. She was a new professor my semester, but she was one of the best instructors I had. In my view, I am not a great writer, but she really did help me learn how to write. Previously, I would follow some stringent structure taught in high school for essays, but she taught me how to go beyond that. Most importantly, she is a very understanding professor, and she is a lot more in touch with students than other professors I have had. I felt no pressure when asking for feedback on my essays, and she answered any questions online very promptly. Overall, I would definitely recommend her ENWR class.
Steph was really down to Earth and took your comments seriously. She gives only a slight amount of reading because she knows you are busy with other classes. There is no "final", but there is a final paper that has a presentation component. You only write 2-3 other papers and they are fairly easy, The class is mainly discussion and most of the time you wilI get out early. I highly recommend Steph!
