This class is way too much work for a required ENWR. I do not recommend anyone taking this class unless they have a lot of time to dedicate to it. Sam is a very nice and personable guy, who is very encouraging, however I don't think he understands that we are not English majors or graduate students. He required much more work from us than other 1510 ENWRs and although the few times he did offer to review student's work his comments were very insightful and helpful, it seemed as if he was never satisfied with anyone's work. Obviously very passionate about what he does, Sam was very much interested in his student's improvement as a writer. However, that meant that he graded very harshly, and as stated before, was never satisfied.
This class was enjoyable and Sam was a very approachable and personable guy. The reading was a little more than I expected, but I actually found that I liked most of the assigned readings. He only required one blog post per person while other ENWR classes require one every week. He was very passionate about the topic and very willing to help on papers. The final paper was actually very fun to write and allowed for a lot of creativity!
