This is a very relatable teacher. The classes are very discussion based so it is important to read the readings. What is nice about this topic is that it is very broad and the readings are never very dense because they are all fairly recent. It is an interesting topic but it does get redundant at some points. The work is not that difficult, but sometimes I didn't understand why I got certain grades on my paper. It was almost like she read it and stuck a random number on the paper. Overall a good course though and I recommend it.
The theme of Professor Mitchell's class is 'Reading in the Digital Age'. In the class, you read about the different ways in which technology has changed society (iPhones, Kindles, Speedreaders, Social Media, etc.) Professor Mitchell truly cares about each of her students. The class might not be the easiest ENWR 1510 offered, but it is one where you actually will learn how to do advanced research and write well-thought out papers. Her course consists of 3 major papers (60% of your final grade), a digital portfolio (15% of final grade), weekly Collab posts (15% of final grade), and participation points (10% of final grade). Before each paper, you submit a draft which is followed by a one-on-one meeting with Prof. Mitchell, where she gives you tips on how to improve your paper before submitting the final version. You will also meet with you assigned peer-revision group to get insight from them before submitting your final version of each paper. Both meetings are extremely helpful. I believe this ENWR 1510 is a fair class and that everyone should take it to learn how to really write!
