A passionate and kind graduate student teaching a course that usually brings a lot of dread to first-year students. Caroline was one of the best professors I had. Although this was her first time teaching the course, her understanding nature and comfort in the classroom setting really allowed her to connect with students. The course is split into three parts, each focusing on a long-term project: creative non-fiction, research, and poetry. The classes are spent reflecting on work and how we can employ different techniques to create our work. She was always available for a chat and would routinely check in on us throughout the semester. You are required to maintain a writers' journal which you must have five entries a week (nothing difficult, many just wrote about their day). You are also required to read a book, of your choice, during the semester and submit your progress via a reading log that gets passed around at the beginning of class. All in all, I am very glad I took my ENWR with Caroline because she deepened my love for writing and challenged me to approach reading/writing of any type from different perspectives.
