Professor Kate is a wonderful instructor, especially if you are someone who has struggled with writing in the past. The entire course is based on relearning how to write, and that writing in college is not the same as writing you have learned in the past. I came into the class nervous because I always assumed I was a bad writer, and I was much more STEM-based in my learning. I learned a lot about myself and the English subject, in general. If you get to choose your ENWR teacher, pick Kate! She is funny and tries really hard to get everyone involved in each class. You can tell that she loves what she does and focuses on more than just typical academic writing. If you want to gain confidence as a writer, I highly recommend her class. She does love to assign readings and sometimes they can be quite dry and dense but as long as you get the gist, the reading checks aren't bad. I wouldn't have wanted to take my ENWR with anyone else. Overall a good class!
Kate is such a sweet and passionate professor! Every class she just lights up the room and is able to lead different types of discussions throughout the class. She clearly takes the time to also help each individual student and can even notice everyone's strengths and weaknesses in their writing. She also sets aside her own time to have conferences which allows each student to show their concerns about their writing, allowing her the chance to get to know the student and give them advice or ideas to improve. She may be a bit of a tough grader when it comes to your essays but it really helps the class improve in the long run, I would strongly recommend her!
