SYS 6016

There were a few hw's (~6), a midterm, two projects, and a final project, though I would guess the format might change in the future. Professor Flower is fantastic- really nice professor, and really cares about the material (and has a lot of experience with it). When I took this class, the curriculum was a little uncertain and deviated a bit at times, but I imagine it will be more settled in the future. The material is really interesting. It is also definitely grad-level material (I took this as an undergrad), but Flower makes it understandable and doesn't require you to understand everything perfectly. If you take this class, it will give you the skills to perform the standards of machine learning (decision trees, neural nets, Bayesian learning, market basket analysis, and a few others), and will introduce you to a good amount of the theory as well.
