The work outside of class is excessive. 6 hours of video followed by another hour to two hour proper reading of the other material is ridiculous to require of a student who has 3-4 other course loads. It comes to the point that it is not possible to complete all of the assignment as well as assignments for other classes. The premise of the class is based in balance, yet this is completely unbalanced. Positive reviews of this course from other students were derived from a much more organized class structure. How this course was redesigned works for a small seminar rather than a large lecture hall. I don't think the lecture time is being used effectively and the space is in definite need of a microphone. The lecture time, as I view it, is an oversimplified and unfinished review of the homework. It creates an awkward dysfunctional course structure where the student is overburdened with outside assignment and under engaged in lecture time. Participation grades were skewed. I attended all but one lecture (due to being sick), all but one discussion (which I was excused), and participated a fair amount during lecture and was given the same grade as someone who often skipped lecture and did not participate. Don't take this class. If you want to learn how to meditate, take something else.
