Kinney's enthusiasm for Shakespeare made lecture truly enjoyable. The reading tends to pile up if you fall behind, so try to stay on top of things. The IDs on the midterm/final come straight from lecture, but it is still a lot of memorization. Papers are graded by the TA, so hope that they like you. On the bright side, Kinney makes even histories seem enjoyable. It doesn't hurt that she looks and sounds like Helen Mirren.
I really enjoyed the reading in this course and Professor Kinney is an amazing instructor. If you want a good grade in this class, then make sure to attend lecture and have your Norton Shakespeare textbook with you so you can mark the passages that Kinney goes over. They will most likely appear on the exams. I did well on the midterm, but the final was hard to get through. Make sure to manage your time wisely for the Final!
This class started out really fun but the midterm and final are really hard to study for. You have to know detailed passages of multiple plays. The papers are pretty difficult too--she gives lots of topics but unless you're and English major you probably won't know how to write the way the TA's want you to
