Professor Connolly is a bit disorganized but a very lovely man. He's pretty much a world expert on Nabokov and Russian lit in general so pay attention to him, he's got really interesting input. He's also really interested in what you have to say too. There are a lot of readings, and usually we'll cover a book in a week before moving on to the next which is a bit of a rush because you wish you could spend more time on them so it ends up being more of a survey. Quite good class comments and he welcomes discussion. Grade consists entirely of out of class writing assignments; papers and take-home exams. Very reasonable.
Professor Connolly is a little bit scatterbrained at times, but it is definitely endearing. He is an expert in his field, and you will leave class every day feeling like you have learned something. Grading is extremely reasonable, and even though he has his own (well justified) opinions on all of the literature, he is always open to other interpretations. If you have any interest in Nabokov at all, this is definitely the class to take. Spending an entire semester on the man isn't even enough to scratch the surface of his complexity. This class is heavy on the reading, but it is very enjoyable.
Professor: Connolly is your stereotypical adorable old man. He has a really sweet soft voice with frequent bursts of passion about what he's teaching. He easily quotes the book from memory and is super knowledgeable about the works studied.
Course: This is a Russian Literature course so be prepared to do a lot of reading! We read about one book per week which can be a bit overwhelming if you take this as a First Year (which I did). Nabokov really is a genius though so be sure to read and annotate so that you can use good examples on the two papers you write. The final is also a take home timed essay. Definitely a course that forced me to grow so I highly recommend it and I ended up with an A-
