PLCP 3500

This class is made up of two midterm papers and one final paper all of which are 2,000 words. There is a lot of assigned reading (about 150 pages a week) but very few people in the class actually did all the readings. The readings are interesting for those who enjoy comparative politics such as Smith, Hayek, Epstein, Polanyi, etc. Class discussion can be boring and confusing at times.

I felt like this class really educated me. Very reading heavy but extremely valuable course. 2.5 hour lecture and I didn't even get bored. Be ware of her grading papers--she cares a lot about grammar and structure and overall good writing. If you pay attention to her tips you will be fine.

This course is a great semi-seminar on the development of states; something very important for all politics majors to consider. Highly recommended
