This class isn't a favorite among first year nursing students, but it is required for nursing so you just have to get through it! There is a lot of work outside of class, which isn't fun, but it's really important for understanding the material and doing well in the class. The textbook is really well written and an awesome resource, so make sure you do the readings and practice problems in each chapter! The tests are very fair, but challenging. Definitely utilize the TA's and the review sessions they do outside of class!
I hated this class. However, you are required to take it so just bear through it. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!! She is a little more helpful there then in lecture and GO TO REVIEW SESSIONS WITH THE TAs. They are so helpful and will definitely be your saving grace. The class isn't hard she is just not an effective teacher. However she is a really nice lady.
Prof. Szaflarski is not a particularly invigorating professor. She knows what she's talking about though. The organization of homework is confusing, tests are hard but fair. She cares about her students and if you email her or go to office hours she is often willing to work with you. Didn't particularly like the class though.
Very easy course, especially if you've taken chemistry in the College or AP chemistry in high school. The exams are easier than tenth grade chemistry and honestly really fair. I hear that among nursing students, this class isn't a favorite and that Dr. Szaflarski is not a good teacher, but she explains concepts so well and is really open during office hours/review sessions. I only went to the review sessions for some practice problems and otherwise just self-studied/reviewed by doing the practice problems in the back of the book or by the lectures she posts online. Again, very easy class and the only way you'll fail is if you make stupid mistakes. I hear that Dr. Szaflarski isn't teaching next semester, but if she does, definitely take the course, as it'll be a relaxing class and a GPA booster.
