Excellent class -- Lott is a fun professor. A bit disorganized at times, but always has insightful comments to make about the material.

This is the best class! Lott is so much fun, really cares about and gets to know his class. He has such interesting things to say about the films. Easy class- 3 2-page papers and 2 5-page papers-thats it!

Great class, especially if you need to fulfill the second writing requirement. Only work other than limited reading and writing is to watch movies. there are a few longer papers during the year but they are not that difficult. Lott is also a pretty easy grader.

If you have a second writing requirement by all means take it with Lott! He’s one of most interesting and easy-going professors at UVA. The class entails 3 papers 6-7 pages in length that account for 90% of your grade. The remaining 10% is class participation. The readings vary in length and there are some films that you have to watch which are actually pretty interesting. He takes a while to get papers graded, but he is not a hard grader. Definitely recommend this class!

This was a great class: very relaxed and enjoyable. The readings were minimal and at times rather unnecessary and the papers were very chill. I would recommend this class as a simple way to fulfill a second writing requirement or a relaxing class over all.
