I'm in the Spanish for Engineers class with Hawkey b/c I saw a post on Reddit that made it seem like this class was cake (no tests, no final, no work, etc.) ....
I guess it has changed since then, but it's still doable. It covers a lot of material for an intro course and there ARE tests, homework and a fair bit of studying. You also end up teaching yourself 100% of the material (because the class is structured this way) so this is a pain in the ass. "Participation" is about a third of your grade, and I put it in quotes, because you're pretty much forced to take part and are graded on correct-ness. As a result, each class has the feeling of a quiz.
The homeworks are pretty much all online (aside from a few here and there), and it's easy to do well for that portion of your grade as you can check to see if your answers are correct before submitting. The tests are also online, but you can't check to see if your answers are correct before submitting. The participation as mentioned above is okay as long as you show up and don't mess up too much when talking.
