This course is poorly organized and lacked decent lectures.

This has been my favorite class at UVA and helped me decided to double major in both Religious Studies and African American studies. Professor Cooper is so great, and does a great job of drawing the class in to think of the subject matter in the context of their everyday lives and think of ways to enact change.

Professor Cooper is a dynamite lecturer. Be prepared, however, for random pop quizzes. Take notes on everything (lectures, movies, and readings) and always come to class with the readings done for that day. She is an awesome lady, but she does have a few tricks up her sleeve...
