Do not take this course unless you are super passionate about the history or radio/ television. Even if you are, I am sure this class will put you to sleep. Professor does know the material well but is not good at teaching whatsoever. She is not able to lead class discussion and thus makes it very awkward and makes no one want to participate. There is a lot of reading with reading responses that are graded fairly. There is one midterm research essay and then the final. This class did not really start to get somewhat interesting until the rise of television but even then it still was dreading to go to class.
I took this class because I assumed it would be fun and easy compared to the other Media seminars. The workload is high and you are expected to actively participate in class discussions. Professor knows the subject very well. But unfortunately, I found her teaching style a bit boring. Overall, I would recommend taking another media class. The subject was very similar to History Of Media.
