Balogh is the best professor here. He is insanely personable and goes out of his way to get to know the students. He is also a phenomenal lecturer.

The reading is intense but all of it is very interesting and worthwhile if you can find the time. And if you forget to do a reading, the TA's mostly won't notice.

As for grades, the tests are tricky but you have a lot of opportunity to prep and it's graded leniently. Weekly assignments are incredibly easy, informal, and fun.

This is probably the best course I've taken here, even though it's outside of my major. Please take it

If you are not a big fan of reading, essay writings, and discussing about the topic, do not take this class. The fact that 20% is from participation hurts your grade if you are not a type who argues his/her own point upfront. His lecture puts you to sleep, and I didn't find it interesting. The amount of reading is too much and time consuming. You also have to write a journal as someone else's persona based off from the lecture of that week. TEDIOUS.
