SPAN 4520

This course is titled "Trans Studies in the Américas" and I believe it is only being taught this semester because Prof. Rizki is away next year, but it was a very interesting course. The workload could be intense at times, with reading(s) and a discussion post before every class, but other than that the only work was the in-class midterm essay and the in-class final essay. The content was very interesting, as it was a topic I hadn't ever looked into before. Prof. Rizki brought in a wide variety of speakers over Zoom, most of them trans Latinx activists. It was incredible to get to hear about their work and their perspectives on the situation for trans people in different Latin American countries. Prof. Rizki is a very flexible professor and is always looking out for his students. When a certain troubling event occurred on Grounds, he came into his office all day on a Sunday, after classes had ended, and invited any of us who were still on Grounds to stop by if we wanted to chat. If he comes back to teach in a couple years, I would highly recommend taking a class with him, as he is clearly very passionate about the subject. #tCFS24
